If you’re craving samosas this Ramadan but want something a little different, this one’s for you.
This is my go-to lazy but impressive iftar snack. You take samosas straight from the freezer, pan-fry them until golden and crispy, and serve them with a fresh, creamy basil dip that takes about 2 minutes to make. That’s it.
It feels fancy. It tastes amazing. But it’s honestly one of the easiest things you’ll make all week.

Perfect for:
-
Quick iftar plates
-
When guests pop over
-
When you want samosas but want to switch it up
-
When you’re tired and hungry and need something fast 😅
What You’ll Need
For the samosas
-
Frozen samosas (any kind you like)
-
A little oil for pan frying
For the creamy basil dip
-
A handful of fresh basil
-
1 clove of garlic
-
Cream cheese
-
Salt and pepper
-
A few walnuts
-
A small piece of jalapeño (optional, for a little kick)
-
A squeeze of lemon juice
-
A drizzle of olive oil
How to Make It
1. Cook the samosas
-
Heat a pan with oil.
-
Add your frozen samosas straight to the pan.
-
Fry on medium heat, turning them so they get golden and crispy on all sides.
-
Once they’re done, set them aside on a plate.

2. Make the dip
-
Add the basil, garlic, cream cheese, walnuts, jalapeño, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper to a blender or food processor.

-
Blend until smooth and creamy.
-
Taste and adjust. More lemon if you like it fresh. More salt if it needs it. More jalapeño if you like heat.
That’s literally it.

How to Serve
Plate up your crispy samosas and serve them with a generous portion of this fresh, creamy, herby dip on the side.
The contrast is so good. Hot, crispy samosas with a cool, tangy, creamy dip just hits different at iftar.
You can also:
-
Drizzle a little olive oil on top of the dip
-
Sprinkle some crushed walnuts for crunch
-
Add a few basil leaves on top if you’re feeling fancy

Why This Is Perfect for Ramadan
-
It’s quick and low effort
-
It uses freezer food but feels fresh
-
It’s great for sharing
-
It doesn’t feel heavy after a long fast
-
And honestly, it just makes samosas more fun
Sometimes you don’t need a whole new recipe. You just need a new dip and suddenly it feels like a whole new dish.
Quick Tip
You can make the dip ahead of time and keep it in the fridge for 2 to 3 days. It also works great with:
-
Spring rolls
-
Fries
-
Chicken strips
-
Sandwiches or wraps
