The easiest way to give your soup dumplings a spicy, herby upgrade
There are meals that are good... and then there are meals that make you wonder why you didn't try them sooner.
If you're already a fan of our Soup Dumplings, this green chilli oil is about to become your new obsession. It's fresh, garlicky, herby, gently spicy, and takes just a few minutes to make.
The best part? The halal dumplings do most of the work.
Perfect for lunch, dinner, or when you're craving something that feels restaurant-worthy without leaving your kitchen.

What you'll need
For the dumplings
- 1 pack of Zulekha halal Soup Dumplings
For the green chilli oil
- 1 large bunch fresh coriander
- 1 large bunch fresh parsley
- 4 garlic cloves
- A thumb-sized piece of fresh ginger
- 2-3 green chillies (adjust to your spice preference)
- 2 spring onions
- 2 tbsp pickled jalapeños
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
- Salt, to taste
- 150-200ml neutral oil (vegetable or sunflower oil)
Step 1: Cook the dumplings
You can cook them whichever way suits you.
Microwave:
Place the unopened steam bag in the microwave for 2 minutes.
Steam:
Steam for 10 minutes until hot all the way through.
While they're cooking, make the magic.

Step 2: Blend the herbs
Into a food processor add:
- Coriander
- Parsley
- Garlic
- Ginger
- Green chillies
Pulse everything until it's finely chopped. You're looking for a vibrant green mixture, not a completely smooth paste.

Step 3: Add the crunch
Transfer the herb mixture to a bowl.
Mix through:
- Chopped spring onions
- Chopped pickled jalapeños
- Sesame seeds
- A pinch of salt
Already smelling incredible? Wait until the next step.

Step 4: Heat the oil
Heat your oil until it's hot, but not smoking.
Carefully pour it over the herb mixture.
You'll hear that satisfying sizzle as the herbs bloom and the whole kitchen fills with the most incredible aroma.
Give everything a good stir and let it sit for a minute.

Step 5: Bring it all together
Arrange your hot Soup Dumplings on a plate.
Generously spoon over the green chilli oil, making sure every dumpling gets coated in that fresh, spicy goodness.
Or if you're like us...
Serve the chilli oil on the side and dunk every single dumpling before that first bite.
Trust us. You won't stop at one.

Why it works
The rich, savoury broth inside the dumplings pairs perfectly with the fresh herbs, gentle heat from the chillies, crunchy sesame seeds, and the zing from the pickled jalapeños.
Every bite is juicy, spicy, fragrant, and packed with flavour.
It tastes like something you'd order in a restaurant, but it only takes around 15 minutes from freezer to table.

Quick tips
- Add more green chillies if you love extra heat.
- Swap parsley for more coriander if you're a coriander fan.
- Make extra green chilli oil. It's amazing with noodles, grilled chicken, rice, eggs, or even drizzled over avocado toast.
Ready in minutes. Gone in seconds.
